Random winner, as it says on the gw.com page.

So there's no need to be the first with a unique bar. That gives us some time to think and test.

you're right, that is exciting news. other than that, this is just a long-winded way of removing heroes from HA, GvG. those henchmen still aren't going to see the light of day except for joke builds

I really wish they gave us some kind of guidelines here. For example, all existing henchmen don't have secondaries, do have a self-heal and a rez (even the monks). Do we have to follow those? Do we have any idea if the henchies can have special equipment considerations, like stonefist on warriors, or maybe crippling daggers? Do we aim for making a well-rounded build that can fit in many places, or a narrow but powerful gimmick? And what exactly is the problem with heroes that henchies will fix, would Anet just reject tease mesmer for being "too annoying"?

20 winners strongly implies that there will be 10 per format. Which also implies every class will be covered. Having to submit just 3 per account kinda sucks, it's hard to decide whether to submit the more essential bars like smiters and tainted, or to take a stab at making the least useless warrior bar just for the prize. (Although W/P spear could be pretty good... but again that secondary thing.)

Lets all pick pathetic skills..........
anyway won't this be worse than heroes. Surely they will need to update hencheis with every skill update too

# One Everlasting Henchman Tonic. This unique item will grant the winner the ability to temporarily transform into the image of the henchman that they are named after.

OMG IM SIKED!

While this looks fun and all, are we seriously supposed to expect the "judges" on Anet's staff to understand why a build would be wanted in GvG/HA when they consistently give us updates that just scream "this can't be real or else it will be abused to no end?" R/A's for example, or the beauty that was the W/N Weaken Knees build? I'm also interested if we have to limit the skills only to the primary profession.

Of course I'll be participating...just wondering if builds will actually be tested with AI and not just read over.

I really don't see what they hope to achieve. Henchmen are in no way a substitute for heroes and they just won't get used. Their skill bars, stats and equipment will be fixed and I doubt that they'll be changed in response to future skill updates. Their bars could quickly become quite useless.

A henchmen bar needs to be fairly mindless and you cannot micro their skills. You cannot use them in coordinated spikes, etc. This entire thing seems... well, just pointless.

DONT PUT SELF HEALS ON YOUR BAR.

What you want to do is submit a hero bar which YOU would run in your GvG/HA team, but that isn't yet already meta...

I've already submitted 2 bars ^^

well considering they turn into the person with the same name - if thats exactly how it works it would be useless for others maybe . so your very own unique items?
i think i accidently just submitted my pve skillbar too....

We need some clarification on this. While the initial line suggests these bars will be for GvG and HA you'll be submitting these bars through an NPC on the Great Temple of Balthazar where the PvE skill versions will be used. In which case it gives the impression that these would be for PvE henchmen, and so does that mean we'll be getting new henchmen as well or replace what we have?

Thats pretty much what most of us would like to know.
